The Military Brat
What is a Military Brat you ask? A Military Brat is a child born to a service member. Unlike "civilian" children they move around usually every three or so years, they say good-bye to old friends and hello to new ones. They become the toughest of the toughest.
Many are born into the Military life, while others come into it later in life, either through the marriage to a step parent that is military or through their parent joining at some point after their birth. One thing is for certain, it is a life changing experience for these children. They tend to learn at a very young age how to say good-bye to either a friend or their parent as they gear up for a deployment. They learn how to make new friends but never forget the old. How to adjust to a new environment every couple of years, and how to deal with stress much earlier than their civilian counter parts.
The life of a Military Brat just as a Military Spouse is a hard one, but one that is easily overcome as they adapt to the military way of life. Soon they know nothing other than this way of life and it becomes the "norm" as it should be.
Our hats are off to you...Military Brats!
