I've been told by girlfriends past that I sometimes talk in my sleep. I leave for bootcamp july 13th and was wondering if there is any way I could get in trouble if i happened to talk in my sleep? I'm not all that worried about it, mostly because its only happened a few times but just wanted to know and would rather not ask my recruiter.
Thanks,
Travis J. Merchant.

Not really sure as to the answer to that question, Travis. I suppose that maybe if you are loud when you talk in your sleep and either the DI or your SDI hears you, you might have to do some extra PT. Now if I may say that while it may not be fun to do that extra PT (which you'll already be doing plenty of it due to the fact that when one screws up, most always the whole platoon pays for it) you will only be stronger in the long run! I wouldn't worry too much about it, so long as you're not a screamer!

I used to do the same thing years ago and still do today from time to time if I
just lay there thinking of random things that wont let me go to sleep, in other words it might be plain ole Insomnia , You Sleep is what we need to function so this is what I would suggest to you. Try to unwind some before hitting the sack, Clear you mind . Pray. what ever it takes.

hahaha, no nothing to worry about. My platoon, actually had a few sleep yellers, never mind talkers. It would scare the piss outta ya on fire watch. haha that was funny. Upon return from bootcamp I even did it. My wife would yell at me.

OK.Now to be totally honest with you I spent quite a few years sleeping in barracks with lots of men and yes there were some who mumbled or talked in their sleep but ive seen sleep walkers ,screamers ,cryers and some other things that doesnt need to be discussed in this mixed company,so my point is its not really nothing to worry about to much now but we were on behind the wire sitting in 2 man holes on the perimeter watch taking turns napping i would have slapped you upside your head after the first mumble.Just being honest and dont worry it will wake you up right away.Hope that wasnt to much information.

Seems to me that a dirty sock stuffed in the mouth of the sleeping mumbler might do the trick, as well:eek:

well ill try tonot get to far off target but I remember when were doing recon on the NPA during a trip in the Zambales everyone on the perimeter was on edge and monsoon season was just starting to set in .Well at that time we had a problem with creepers trying to get in the perimeter and steal your weapons and gear ,so if they got past the perimeter the guys inside slept with their poncho liners cause it had dropped down to about 75 and was cold as heck.it was usually 110 during the day ,but we all sleppt on top your weapon and your k-bar in your hand .so when it was time to wake the next watch you got a long piece of bamboon and shook him with it first because the first reaction was to come up cutiing with the k-bar.So I guess my point was a screamer would have probably got de-screamed...but in reality by the time you got to sleep it was a dead sleepp till somebody made a noise...damn got on that soapbox again.....:2cents:

Good soapbox Doc. That is good info to pass on. You don't do stuff cause you are told, you will do it when a very good reason has been explained to you. Mainly when it can cost you or someone else their life. I have to nudge the wife carefully when she is sleeping as she comes up swinging!
