Hello to everyone. I just joined USMC and I will be leaving for boot camp very soon. I would love the insight of a female marine before I leave. I'm very exited but nervous at the same time.

First of all, Welcome! There are a few female Marines floating around here, they all come out of hiding eventually. Hopefully, they can really give you the answers your looking for. I'm from Connecticut too, I'm up around the Litchfield area though. Anyways, best of luck at boot and on your jounrey to become a Marine. Stick around here, and really, ask anything you can think of. If someone doesn't know the answer, trust me - they'll do the research to find you the answer you need. :)

I'm also a Female Marine Corps Poolee. Good luck on your "trip" to Parris Island!! When do you ship?? I probably can't answer a whole lot because I am not a Marine but do you have any specific questions??

Thanks so much for all the replys. They really lift up my spirits. I guess I have a lot of questions becuase I havent really met anybody that trully supports my descition. My mother has been the only one pushing me everyday to train for boot camp. Unfortunately most of the people around me keep on telling me that they'll brain wash me or that they'll break me mentally. which I know is not true... Any ways I'm going on and on. I just want some one to tell me how their experience was at boot camp? How was the interation between the females? DI????????

Welcome Aboard.........(looking under desk.....in closet.....on back poarch......cupboards....) I know we got some around here but dont know exactly where they are right now....Woman Marines...Oh, 1 is in Iraq, that explains that.....but if theres anything else, well, just ask, except money brownies or new shoes......Have fun and now you are committed to keeping us up to date and that includes a graduation picture, it's all in that legal junk you agreed to when you pushed that button...(Teach you to agree).
Things to do..

I run into the same problems except for my mom doesn't want me to go into the Corps. For some reason people assume because we are females, we are fragile beings that can't handle something like the Marine Corps. Stay strong...prove them wrong. From what I hear, the female drill instructors are worse than the males. Some of the guys in my pool that have came back from Parris Island have said that their drill instructors were intimidating but the female drill instructors were much worse. I attended a Marine Corps Pool Function and at lunch time, they seperated the males and females. We, lucky 13 females, went with the female drill instructor. She "ripped us apart" but not a single one of us slouched the rest of the day. That feeling that she was constantly watching us was in the back of our minds constantly as the guys became more lax.

That DI is going to be VERY hard on you as you have to excell and prove the stereotype is wrong!! Also, it takes more than signing the paper and doing some push ups to become a Marine. We don't want some shmuck loser in OUR Corps and the DI's will make sure that only those who posess the proper qualifications will wear the title of Marine.
And Rusty, I'll put $5 on the ladies also.

MissB, I've always stood behind you, (probably the safest place in the world to be till you finish on the range) and all kiddin aside, I have invested in you. In a way we are like bank accounts with each other. We both put in and we get interest. But on a much more personnel level, I am a good judge of character, and I think that you as my friend, will over the years teach me some things about life I missed along the way to right here right now. And I am a supporter of a lot of people, each one very unique and special to me. Old, young, male, female, people who can swim, or people who teach people to swim, even Navy (God Bless their Souls) Corpsmen. Sarita is in the same spot, she'll get to be around and some will rub off on her, some on me, some on you. Easy to do this way: Real Dad sez "You have got to be shi++in me", real mom faints and then cries, you real brother laughs non stop, and ol Gramps just raises a cheek and far+'s. Now, hangout family sez (Guide) "That's my girl, watch this Brother" and you graduate boot. Your hangout MOM Sez, OK baby girl, were proud of you", and your brothers and sisters here laugh non stop at your real brothers and sisters at home because they thought you were gonna fail-AND DIDN'T! Ol gramps had a boo-boo the next time he sneaked his cheek
See how it works?
Think us old folks single out people cuz of their nickname or something? You arrived here just like I did and something stuck. And if you ever done any reading over at "minespaced.com" or whatever it is, well, now you belong to Guide. Just Like everyone else here does, and you also belong to Doc,John,Dan,Renee,Kristin,Jeff-(he has guns and lives in Idaho, snicker) and Bridget and Jerry, and just look at the member list and remember all who have left some stuff here and there for you. And people as far away as the Philipines....and to you, and Sarita, Welcome Aboard, so far the pool is up to $10.00 on the "chicks" :o.
Marines dont loose. Thats why you chose what you chose. You are the future for us in the world, and we trust you with that, and years from now when many of us are gone, you will keep us alive here. Easy task huh? Thank You...http://www.usmchangout.com/portal/hangout/images/icons/icon14.gif...Now get them rooms cleaned up, get out that front door, and whip some "world" type daily things Marin Corps style.

Oh I guess you guys think you re gonna get all the credit.Im betting on the ladies myself.
Its not gonna be easy .Thats why most people dont and cant do it.So we do get some bragging rights and I guarantee you when you go home in your dress blues you will get more looks of respect and awe than little Cindy Lou Who when she caught the grinch stealing her presents.
I cant wait to see a graduation picture and will proudly call you Sister and Marine.Count me in for 5 oh what the hell lets make it ten.Its a sure bet......

Thanks for all of the confidence and support, guys. (Graduation picture should hopefully come the end of september!!!) I had PT tonight and even as one of two females out of twenty or more poolees, I felt at home and excited for the future. Sarita, we have some very big shoes to fill. You all have definitely made an impact on me and I hope to repay the favor.

Just do the very best that you can at PI and that will be more than enough payment. I pitty the fool that would bet against you anyway. With all the buildup you've been getting around here, you're probably walking on air.
