View Full Version : Favorite oversea bar

April 12th, 2007, 16:01
The question is what was your favorite oversea bar. Mine was the Cordon Blue in Olongapo Philippines. I also liked the Genesis Club in the same city

April 12th, 2007, 16:58
I used to go to a bar out the front gate of Camp Butler on Okinawa but I don't remember the name. It was on the second floor and was finished in barn wood.

April 12th, 2007, 20:47
Olongapo Philippines there were several places first the Genesis Club then the American legion post #1 I also enjoyed the Cordon Blue , then my favorite beer was Sam Migal.
(by the way ever eat a Balute) yum yum :D

April 12th, 2007, 23:56
no rotten eggs for me

April 13th, 2007, 06:16
My favorite overseas bar was Kin. I also like the Holiday Inn on Guam. Went dancing and drinking there a lot.

April 13th, 2007, 09:37
Outside Clark Airbase - Smiles
Can't remember any from Olongapo (usually too drunk) but there was one with a cowboy theme...
Haiti - Boleros in Petionville

Shoot - can't remember many names of the places...

Amazing what old age and brain damage will do

April 13th, 2007, 10:01
I don't drink, buwhhhhaaaaaaahhhaha

April 13th, 2007, 14:20
My favorite was Naha Music Club. I have never seen a place like it since. In Kin, I like the Blue Hawaii and the Shangrila (can't miss it because it's the bar at the end of the street when you come out of the gate at Hansen in Oki. There were some bars in Thailand that I liked but will never remember the names (but will never forget the experience).

April 13th, 2007, 14:26
The Shangrila. Holy Smokes, Steve, you remind me of my 21st birthday. I spent it at the Shang. And about every other one in Kin.

April 13th, 2007, 15:18
I remember one drink, can't think of it's name but it was a clear liquid but when mix-ed with water it turned milkey white, it had one hell of a kick, (lions milk) it had an opium base.

April 13th, 2007, 22:44
There was this little outdoor bar on Boogey st in Singapore after dark the would put out about 40 tables taking up the whole street. Of course the place we weren't supposed to go to but it was the 1st place we went.

April 14th, 2007, 09:31
You went into the red district, oh man, you must have been brave.

April 16th, 2007, 08:58
Noah's Ark or the Purple Haze in Okinawa
i think i still have t-shirts from both bars

May 16th, 2007, 01:13
Anybody remember "Club Look" on Okinawa outside of Camp Hansen? The owner was Mike and his wife Kiko. It had a kick**s stereo system and .50 mixed drinks. What $5 would do to you!!!!!:26:

May 16th, 2007, 01:26
Spent time at the Shamrock at Cubi Point. Loved that place.

May 16th, 2007, 06:09
This is making me laugh. I must have gone to some Reeeeaaalllyy good bars in Okinawa! I do not remember any of these mentioned. I must have lost some brain cells at them!

May 16th, 2007, 08:19
Well, seeing as I've only been to Iwakuni, I'd have to say Terry's and Miss Saigons

May 16th, 2007, 08:22
There were a few bars on Hotel street in Pearl City HI but I don't remember their names. Of course Hotel street is know for other things....

May 16th, 2007, 09:00

Great post V8 I remember many of those clubs. I had to laugh that the cordon blue called themselves a restaurant. It is true that people would bring up monkey meat (how I miss monkey meat) and mango's to eat.
I also used to hang out once in a while in the cork room cellar when you just wanted to get away and relax. They had a couple of guys with guitars there played all night. They would do a whole lot of Simon and Garfunkel tunes.

There were two clubs a liked in Olongapo, but don't remember the names! In Okinawa, the town of Henoko, I had two I liked and their name was The Club Texas and The Blue Star! In Yokosuka, it's the same, can't remember the names! One of the clubs there was owned by an American Navy man named Mike and his Japanese wife, who was called Big Mama. Had some great times ....... what I remember!!!
