OK HOW ABOUT A 16" 50 CAL ONE BIG GUN NO LONGER IN USE BY THE NAVY FOUND ONLY ON BB'S (BIG BOOMERS)
MadMax
April 21st, 2006, 09:01
16" 50 cal? Is it a handgun? I saw an old British .532. The guy holding it looked like if he fired the thing, he was going to eat it. That was a pretty big gun...
V8403
April 21st, 2006, 09:12

MadMax
April 21st, 2006, 10:04
It's the electric chain gun mounted to the front of certain ships. It fires 6000 rounds a minute and cuts plane in half, right out of the sky.

what kind of rifle are you looking at i was looking at getting a dragunov rifle but i heard about a ban or something like that
MadMax
April 21st, 2006, 11:20
There is no such ban on them. They are okay. The Russians used to use them as their primary sniper rifle, but you can't get one of that quality in the states. You get a knock off... I'm going to get a Remington 700 Heavy barrel, .308, fluted, and sloat it on a McMillan symthetic stock, glass bed it and put my Springfield sniper/countersniper scope on it.
SSG_Bolles
April 21st, 2006, 11:54
nice cant you order them from someone outta the states??
MadMax
April 21st, 2006, 11:58
Not unless you want to have an international weapons charge. Our government doesn't allow that. We import what's out there.

MadMax
April 25th, 2006, 07:49
What is the Japanese sniper rifle? It looks like a Moisen Nagant, right? I can't remember ever seeing one in person. I used to work in a gunshop in Colorado (right over Soldier of Fortune Magazine) and we saw almost everything BUT Asian weaponry come through there. That's where I got to see and shoot my two favorite rifles... An H&K SR-9 and a Knight Arms SR25. Awesome...

I thought Puff was the plane that could cover every square inch of a football field with bullets in one pass?
they took I believe 3-4 vulcan cannons and mounted them on a(umm not sure which one..will have ta look....) plane,
they used it Vietnam alot,
I read somewhere that they still use it today....
MadMax
April 25th, 2006, 13:51
Pretty much the same thing. They are both "chain guns". Rotating barrels like the old gatlin guns, Electronic rotating firing pins, etc. Yes, a Super Cobra going 60 mph over a field, can put a round every inch...

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than the enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. My rifle and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, or the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit.
My rifle is human, even as I am human, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other.
Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and I are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.
So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy.

Did you know that by heart, John? I used to, but have not recited it in many moons, so remember parts of it. To see it, I recognized it all, but to repeat it back, I am rusty. ::hangs head in shame::

That's the one, my friend. And "shreds" is about as accurate as you can get in describing what it does to targets.

Raytheon's Phalanx CIWS Upgrade
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/John%20Stevens/My%20Documents/Phalanx_1.jpg
RGB Spectrum's Video Windowing System Adapted for Special FLIR Input
RGB Spectrum announces that its RGB/View® video windowing technology is a part of the Block 1B upgrade for the Phalanx Close-In Weapons System developed by Raytheon Systems Company.
The Phalanx system was originally deployed in 1979 to counter the threat from aircraft and anti-ship missiles, and is today installed on every United States Navy combatant ship as well as those of 20 allied nations. Phalanx automatically carries out search, detection, target threat evaluation, tracking, firing, and kill assessment. It uses advanced radar and computer technology to locate, identify, and direct a stream of 20mm armor-piercing projectiles to the target.
The original Phalanx system did not offer a method of engaging surface combatants, particularly fast surface combatants. To address this requirement, the Phalanx Block 1B Upgrade adds a surface mode capability that increases the ability to track targets and provides a lethal defense against small surface craft and low slow aircraft. This includes a Forward-looking Infrared (FLIR) sensor for day/night detection capability. The RGB/View display subsystem offers the capability of showing the FLIR imagery on the control station screen and presenting it in a window along with computer generated graphics.
The FLIR camera is conected to the control consoles over a fiber optic channel. Fiber optics were chosen to provide a higher quality image than coaxial cable; it allows the signal to be transmitted over long distances without degradation since the fiber is less susceptible to noise and electrical interference.
Because of this requirement, RGB Spectrum developed a custom version of its RGB/View system to provide a direct fiber optic interface. The RGB/View that allows multiple video, FLIR, and computer inputs to be shown in windows on a single display. Each window can be positioned, scaled to full screen, overlaid with computer graphics or overlapped with other windows. In addition, the user can pan and zoom within each video image.
As a mobile system, the Phalanx CIWS has strict space requirements. The RGB/View decreases the number of monitors required by combining multiple video feeds onto a single display in real time. RGB Spectrum provides this product functionality in VME formats, standalone units, and customized board level configurations. In the case of the Phalanx system, RGB Spectrum worked with Raytheon to develop a customized package to fit with their existing space requirements.

MadMax

V8403
May 5th, 2006, 07:17
The Inchon LPH 12 had 3 " 50s and CIWS and 2 Missle launchers with 6 each. the main mission of the ship was to put Marines ashore via Ch-46's, Ch-53E, we also the AH 1 Cobra that was a mean bird.

Now I understand it all. Yeah the Cobra's (now Super Cobra's) are amazing.

No, direct hit on the side.
V8403

last video I saw was of the (Moab) Mother of all bombs talk about one H*** of a big bang OMG
MadMax
May 5th, 2006, 13:49
Was that the ten thousand pounder?
The TOW 2F is designed to hit an M1 where it's weakest, on the top. so it's flight pattern is as I explained. That along with a little octol 8 and a shape charge, finish the job.

May 5th, 2006, 13:55
