i been working out all day for the past 2 weeks and i lost about 20 pounds ( mostly water weight) and my recruiter said 227 is the maximum weight to get to sign up for the Marines this thursday when i go to meps.
He said i could leave for recruit training in October. And i know i wont be able to make it to 203 by then, so will i be able to get shipped? or no?

he said you had to reach 203 to ship so you need to lose a little over 20 lbs do you think that you can do it in a month and a half or less
please refresh me what is the IST again.

You don't have to be 203.. you just have to be under your max weight... and be able to pass the IST

If I remember right 203 should be max in the Corps but not Max to go to boot camp you may want to PM reighvin and ask him unless he pops on soon.

Just to clarify a little information here....
The 233 weight your recruiter is the maximum weight for you to join the Delayed Entry Program. You have another weight limit to go to Recruit Training, and there is another weight, which is the Marine Corps Standard, that you must make in order to graduate as a Marine.
They 203 for 72 inches is still correct for Marine Corps standard.all right after reading From reighvin on another tread.
I'm not sure what the other weight is but Talk to the recruiter get the actual weight hit the goal go to boot camp next month.

The IST you do in boot camp consists of a 1.5 mile run, which u have to complete in i think 15 minutes, you have to do 3 pull ups, and 60 crunches in 1.5 minutes.
U do this right before you pick up with your drill instructors. If you fail this you don't start training, you go to a holding platoon called PCP. I don't know what it stands for, but we all called it Pork-Chop-Platoon.
You stay in that platoon for as long as it takes you to be able to pass the ist. It sucks, you end up staying on that island for alot longer than 3 months, i know people that were on that island for more than a year, cause they were overweight, or couldn't do 3 pullups. But it's nothing to be scared of.

PCP stands for Physical Conditioning Platoon. And even though it is nothing to be ashamed of to be on, you really dont want to be on it. all you do is PT and then go on working parties. you dont actually train, you arent allowed to. its quite depressing there, so i would make sure i was ready to go before i went. i know your recruiter is pushing you to go as soon as you can, but if you cannot confident that you can complete the IST with a good score, then you should wait until you are damn sure you can. if you dont wait, then you are just going to get there and get stuck in PCP.

PCP is Physical Conditioning Platoon, but as stated, affectionately called Pork Chop Platoon. If you work hard, and really have it in mind to become a Marine, to earn that title, than you WILL do it. I am not just using Jedi mind tricks on you. But you need to eat right and do a lot of exercise. Really work on overall conditioning, but pay close attention to exercises that will improve your IST/PFT scores. If you have a hard time doing dead hang pullups, practice deadhang pullups. If you have access to weight machines, do the shoulder lat pull downs. It is a similar movement to a pull up. Push ups are good for upper body strength. Run you butt off and run some more. You don't really want to be on the rock for a year. Remember though, if you lose water weight, it can come back easily.

eat light on the morning of your pt...it also makes it easier.
NO MILK...it adds precious seconds onto your run time.
