The overall war may not ever be over but the operation in Iraq may be over in 5 years.

Given the current state of affairs in Iran, Syria and Pakistan it doesn't look like this war in Iraq & Afghanistan will ever end in a manner that everyone can live with. The U.N. doesn't seem interested in addressing the development of nukes in Iran so I wouldn't expect the U.S. to be out of the region for a very long time.
