Have been exchanging notes with Grumpy over on the SOI thread and he made a comment that jogged a memory. Grumpy mentioned Brig Rats. While we were stationed over in 11 area on Pendelton, had a clown do something that resulted in some Brig time. We also had one of those little smart ass sgt.'s who used to try to sneak up on you when he was NCO of the guard and crap like that. He got asigned to escort this guy to the Brig and a kid I knew was to drive the jeep. These were the little Mighty-Mites. I do not just why but this clown put the culprut in the back, in handcuff's and he took the passanger seat. On the way in a simi-remote location the guy in back used both feet to kick the back of the seat. The seat would tip forwaed to allow easy axcess to the rear of the Jeep. Anyway the Sgt. banged his head hard on the winsheild and was stunned. The prisinor then grabbed the forty-five, and my buddy tried to grab him. The guy pointed the pistol at him and pulled the trigger. The gun was not chambered , so he struck the driver over his left eye, then whopped the Sgt. on the back of the head, secured the keys to the restraints and freed himself. Pushing both out of the vehicle he took off. A general man hunt was launched to no avail. Two weeks later he was captured taking a shower in a 1st Marines baracks at San Mateo, never got off base, never heard what he got in addition to the original time. Also never heard what happned to the Smart Assed Sgt. either just know he dissapeared from the unit. My buddy had a small scar he kept picking at trying to make it permanate. I pulled chaser one time had three rats cutting weeds down along the tracks near the lake. Was armed with a 98 Winchester, was told not to let them excape was a nervious wreack before the eight hours was up.
