We are starting to get a lot of recruits on here now. I was thinking of adding a recruits forum since a lot of the posts within the Marine Corps topics are questions about boot camp, etc..
So do you think we should start up a recruits forum for our recruits on here? And how many of you here are recruits? Reply and let us know!

The only reason I said no was because while we seem to have a lot of recruit questions, they seem to be being answered fairly well where they are at. However, if you want to add it Bridget, who the heck am I to say no...lol

I would for the most part agree with Dave aka lima33doc however for new members to the site it would be a place to look. There are alot of great bootcamp questions and answers on here however its a long search for them.

See that is what I was thinking, hopefully it would help stop a lot of the same questions being asked twice and make it easier for new members to find the threads related to boot camp.
And I have no idea how you voted twice. I guess you are just special like that! :p

I think we should so we don't get the same questions over and over and over and over

I voted no, but for the reason of labelling. They aren't recruits yet... That just sounded misleading to me, as if young men ans women will have the ability to acces this site while IN boot camp. Perhaps we could call it Boot Camp instead, or something on that line. I think a repository of those questions in a central area is a great idea, with a pointer up front so new users that are DEP or just trying to find out info before joining will know to look there first.

I thought they were called recruits once they signed the dotted line? If not what are they called?

To be honest I think it's all relative to do with the Marine Corps so I dont agree with having another section for recruits.
Of course we could also have a Sticky Thread up in the Marine Corps Topics section for those who have questions about the USMC Boot Camp and as that continues we could put those questions/answers into an FAQ section.

I think someone's mind is pretty well made up by the time they make the final decision to go to boot camp, so a separate forum is redundant. Besides, I don't think you can prepare yourself mentally because it is still just an enigma... something one has to experience to really understand.

Trapper, you're right. They're recruits once they sign the dotted line AND take the oath of allegiance. Anytime before that and they're just called civilians or prospective fools.

Ok I have created one (Boot Camp Basics). Couldn't think of what else to call it.
