Haven't heard much. I am relying on you and Bridget to watch this part. I am observing the Astros at present. Not too happily I might add. :(

Well, I am somewhat happy with the Cowboys draft. Felix Jones and Mike Jenkins are good pick ups

Oh, yes, you got a suspended player, too...

Steelers 1st rounder was a surprise. They got Rashard Mendenhall, who was ranked the #2 runing back in the country. Now we, too, have a 1-2 punch, like the Giant,s and San Diego and J'Ville. We already had the best running game in the league last year. We have Fast Willie for 1st and 2nd down, Mewelde Moore for third and Mendenhall for the other times, to keep Parker fresh. We got a 6-5 wide out, to answer one of Ben's wish list picks. We got one of the best O-line guys in the draft. We got a tall QB that may get moved to split end. More Trick play stuff...

That QB pick was a surprise!! When you read the kids bio he sounds like KS. He stated, I want to be a QB, I hope the scouts see something that makes him a good pick because a saw a ton of other players we could have gotted with that pick.

Here I'm thinking we're going to fix our Oline after those record number of sacks on Ben last year, but instead we go for a RB first round????? I understand that they said they never imagined he'd be available by the time it came to our round, but really???? And then a WR second round, LB third round ... and FINALLY an OT fourth round and then another QB?????

So much for our offensive line! If we can't hold back the defenses of the other teams, WTF good are all these new "weapons" if you've got Ben scrambling or being sacked and unable to utilize them????:banghead:

He's supposed to be a good "running" QB ... so think along the lines of Randel-El or Hines Ward ... and there's your reasoning.

Still ... I'm very disappointed in this draft.

Wilson replaced Randel-El, a former QB turned Wide Out. So maybe they turn this Dicxon kid( at 6'4") into another tall reciever, who happens to be a former quarterback. This move reeks of trick plays...remember Randel-El's end around TD pass to Ward in the Super Bowl? Or Wilsond direct snap to the motion guy for a 2pt conversion last year? I forget who he hit on that, but that is not the point. Ariens like doing wide out passes, and has quite a few of them in his playbook. The guy may need a few more pounds on him, but to be a QB in the NFL he would anyway, at only 206 lbs.

Build his line in front of him or give him more weapons to get the ball to quickly. They went the second way, by neccesity. This guy is a 6'6 305 tackle that used to be a tight end. Again, more weapons. Tackle eligibles...

I'm aware of who we got and their resumes CJ ... and I'm not buying into that line of thinking. You can't do crap if they're coming over the line and catching your new big RB behind the LOS for a loss. The Steelers have gone through this before, ignoring the Oline, and we've had a losing season when we've done that. With the schedule we have this year????? I'm predicting a 9-7 season ... and I'm being quite optomistic in that regard.

But, last year we had a reletively new together line. Being that this is the second year of them playing together, except for Hartwig, I think they will be better than last year. I think they need to eat, drink and room together so they learn each others tendencies, mannerism, etc. They need to work work and work some more. The guy we did get on the offensive line is 305 lbs, as mentioned before fore the benefit of non Steelers fans reading this. I know you are aware of our picks and thier resumes, you have the same web sites I do. That part of thier bios was for the non Pittsburgh people. I like having big guys up front, esp. the left side. We all know that is Ben's blind side. We don't want him to have to prove he is the master of excapability again this year, but we do have that. Plus, like coach Z says: “I think he can go both ways,” said Zierlein about Hills’ ability to handle both ends of the offensive line. “I think he can probably play the right, but he’s been a left tackle. In college, he started out behind Jonathan Scott (of the Detroit Lions), and the guys down at Texas compare him – I have friends on that staff – and they feel that he’s a better prospect than Scott was. Scott is starting for Detroit, and they think this kid has more upside than Jonathan did.” http://news.steelers.com/article/88922/
Adding about 20 lbs to this guy, he will contend with Essex, Smith, etc.
What concerns me is there are no Left Guards listed on the Steelers website, and only Kemoeato and Simmons on the right.

It doesn't really matter who Detroit gets until the Fords sell the team to someone who cares it will be the same old thing.

They had Barry Sanders and what good did it do. I will always root for them but talk about a heart break team.

I completely understand why we went after Mendenhall ... I can't believe he wasn't taken in the top 10 picks. Its like walking past a $100 dollar bill trying to reach a $50 before anyone gets it ... what do you do? You grab the $100 dollar bill first. We couldn't help ourselves there ... and I agree with your concerns on the guards. Unless Mike is making some deals with people we don't know about ... http://www.landofmarbles.com/phpbb/images/smilies/102.gif

Well, we still have FRee Agency and undrafted rookies. We seem to do quite well in the undrafted arena, thinking about Willie and James Harrison...

We're already working the "undrafted" arena ... and we've got another center ...

Herd Center offered deal by Pittsburgh.
Story by Jared Fialko

HUNTINGTON -- Doug Legursky's name wasn't one of the 252 called in this weekend's NFL Draft.

But that hardly means the big man from Beckley doesn't have a future in the bigs.

The Marshall powerhouse center's phone ringing several times before, during, and after the draft.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were on the other end.

Legursky telling 13 News that he has been offered a three-year free agency deal by the Steelers.

I just saw a statement the the Steelers will not use this QB as a Slash. So that could mean that they plan to compete him as a QB or switch him to the WR position.

Time will tell how good this draft was.

I wasn't thinking Slash at all, but Wide Out, that happens to be able to throw the ball, like Ward and Wilson.

I'm mad Steve Slaton went to Houston. Complete waste of talent
