Hey guys, Im at work and didnt have time to scan the forums for anything related to my problem. So I've been away for a while, lol but the good news is I lost my 100 lbs to get in. The bad news is, they want my tatt off on the back of my neck. I have had 6 laser sessions ($155 a month) and 7 "Tattoo B Gone Removals" ($50 bi-weekly). Honestly, the tatt b gone worked better, and is far less cheaper.

My recruiter told me to try to get it cut out (its a half dollar sized tatt on the back of my neck). He said his cost $200 to cut his off, but he got it done in Hawaii. I was just wondering if we had some Florida (Tampa/Orlando) poolees who have ever ran into this problem.

YES, I have researched just about every single tattoo removal business a hundred miles from here, but they all do laser, and laser is a waste of time.

I would really like to avoid going Army. I wasnt motivated to be 11 Bravo. I was motivated to be 0311.

Thanks guys!
~Chris

Instead of researching for tattoo removal business to remove it, search for a surgeon:) There are skin surgeons who do surgical removal of these. Hope that helps.

If all else fails get it colored in to match your skin tone

That is what I said in the other version of this thread.

Oh ya, sorry forgot to mention that. After my last treatment of Tattoo B Gone, we did a "scarification ink over", meaning he used skin colored ink, yellows, and oranges to make it look like a scar. "You cant just use skin tone color, you gotta have more darker colors with the skin color, to help illuminate the illusion of the coverup", my tattooist said. The out come was that at first, the tatt was completely gone, but after about 2 weeks of healing, it was visible again, and the cover over had completely faded out. Pissed me off hardcore. So now, Im left with a hardly visible Japanese Kanji on my neck. My recruiter's boss wants to be fickle about the situation. I argued that I LOST ONE HUNDRED FREAKIN POUNDS, AND I TRIED MY BEST TO GET THE TATTOO OFF (financially screwed me), and ENDURED COUNTLESS HOURS OF PAIN, but we all know you cant argue with a SSGT ;)
Back to the drawing board.

Chris, perhaps try a different recruiter? Maybe this guy just has a thing against Tats. You can get waivers for just about everything. I can't imagine they would No Go you for that.

Dude check this out, tell me if this sounds like some BS to you. I was gonna enlist on April 1st, 2008 right? They were sending me to their head guy to have my tatt WAIVERED. Not just looked at, WAIVERED. Just so happens that on my way home from work earlier that morning, due to low tire pressure and sugar sand, at 1:30 am April 1st of 08, I total my 05 GSXR 1000 (may the good Lord rest her soul), broke my collar bone, got some road rash, and a mild concussion. Whatever, I shrug it off. I take a little bit of time to heal up, get my arm taken care of and here I am, 2 months later FULLY healed. Im doing pullups, running etc, Im back to 100%. They tell me the wreck will have no effect on my USMC career.

I go back up there last week and its the tatt thing again. This time, they tell me they wont waiver it, knowing damn well I never made it to their commader (or who ever I was supposed to see that day). Long story short, I think they met their recruiting goals. They can accept f*cking felons, but they cant accept a guy who has sacrificed so much to just have the chance to beat the Crucible and wear the EGA.

Ya, I guess I'll have to do that, go look for another recruiter. Thanks for letting me vent lol

yeah man just get a different recruiter. i have a big tattoo on my lower forearm of my daughters name and footprint. i had no problem at MEPS or anything and now im in dep. the only thing that ever got brough up about my tattoo was i had to fill out a form saying what it was and where on my body it was. that was in my package of forms i took to MEPS with me and nothing came of it.

How long ago did you enlist hanney? I got 3. I huge one on my forearm, one on my right calf, and one on my neck. APPARENTLY, the only one they care about is the one on my neck. I have no idea why they would care about the smallest insignificant, barely visible tattoo. They only thing I can think of is that the Pixies wont cover it up, while the other two will be hidden.

I will try to go see an out of town recruiter, maybe one an hour or so away from here, but I got this crazy feeling, they're just gonna send me right back to my local recruiter.

Does anyone remember when the new tat policy went into effect? I think it was in May. If so, that may be the issue. ??

It seems odd that the one on the neck would be the issue, since they seem to be more concerned about ones that will show when you are wearing Charlies/Deltas or PT gear. That would inculed the forearm and calf.

Actually the old policy covered this. There was a no Wavers for Tats on the Hands, Neck or Face. That has been the policy for years.

About 2 years ago a new recruiting policy came out with much stricter guidlines. But again a no Go was one on the Hands, Neck or Face. The rest is kind of up to the recruiter.

The did have a size and number of Tats policy.

Its not the old Corps anymore. I would not be allowed to enlist cause I have too many and a couple are too Large.

Mine are pretty big, but its just that little insignificant, faded tatt on the back of my neck thats killing me.

Oh and BTW, the recruiters I talked to about an hour from here told me I would be better off with my "local" recruiter.

Damn.

Again Neck is one of the banned areas.

your neck does still stick out of charlies well on most people at least

lima33doc

your neck does still stick out of charlies well on most people at least depends on how far up/down on your neck Dan. if it actually works its way to the back of the head (which I have seen), then it does, but normally one that sits low enough on the neck would be hidden by a collar, but not hidden in PT Gear

Well, I got a consultation set up for tomorrow (6.19.09) @ 6:45 am before I go to work. The doctor was in the Navy, so hopefully he'll hook me up with a discount or something.

We're gonna discuss on whether I wanna get it cut off or scrubbed off (dermabrasion I think its called).

Hopefully its within my budget seeing as how its a tiny little tattoo.

Good luck. I hope that everything works out with this Dr. and you can get it taken care of to the point that you will have no problems enlisting. Will keep my fingers crossed for you!

I must say you deserve it more than many! I don't know but a few people who would go through all you have to become a Marine. Good luck, and let us know what you find out.

Well I paid $90 for an old man to tell me crap I already knew. He said he USED to do it, but he gave it up because insurance, and the license for the practice went through the roof after a bunch of fat people started dying from liposuction.

He gave me the name of a numbing agent that you put on, saran wrap it for an hour, then you can take sand paper and start scrubbing off the skin (dermabrasion). He also recommended I get trashed before I do it, but I told him I would be fine without the liquor.

Or he said I can wet my neck, dump a crap load of salt on, then keep it bandaged up for 24 hours, then peel it off (less painful and less effective than the dermabrasion).

He said the nape of the neck is the thickest skin on the body, and he couldn’t cut it off, but those 2 methods would work.

He also said I have a very strong will to keep going after I’ve been denied so many times, and told me that’s he’s never met a “kid” that wants to be a Marine as bad as me. The compliment was well received, but it wont take the tattoo off.

What if you overwrite it with a Marine Tattoo, will your recruiter like it then?

How about a branding :D

I'm into scars so I think that would be cool.

I'm sure they have a thing against branding too. Hell the Salt thing can't be to bad, it's worth a shot

Try researching a product called wrecking ball

August 15th, 2008, 15:32
Never heard of that Product but have heard of one Called Wrecking Balm and another called Tat B Gone both of which do the same thing Fade the Tat over over time Min of 6 Months, plus there is Nuviderm which also does the same and has a money back Guarantee or so it says on the unused portion so look into your options.
