Gulf War illness is real, new federal report says

An extensive federal report released Monday concludes that roughly one in four of the 697,000 U.S. veterans of the 1990-91 Gulf War suffer from Gulf War illness. That illness is a condition now identified as the likely consequence of exposure to toxic chemicals, including pesticides and a drug administered to protect troops against nerve gas The 452-page report states that "scientific evidence leaves no question that Gulf War illness is a real condition with real causes and serious consequences for affected veterans.

This should really help some folks with there claims. There is no cure from over exposures as it atacks the CNS (Central Nervous System). I went to a Chemical Study at the University of Pitt in 2000 where they put me through 5 days of testing and then I went into some AMA Mags as having the highest exposure rate to TCE, Trychloroethlene (Drycleaning fluid) they had ever found..Shortly after the test i was home and the phone rang and it was the Navy EPA office from Norfolk calling me wanting to know more about the time frame and such and when they got the information they just hung up on me and i was nice the entire time on the phone with them, i didn't call them, they called me.
The problems came as i was locked inside a ships drycleaning plant during GQ drills with no fresh air for 30-60 mins 4-5 times a week and sometimes longer and more often, i was on a ship carrying Polaris missiles for Subs so GQ drills were mandatory for Security reasons. They wanted the work load to continue so my station was in the plant and only me, this was over a 28 month time frame and twice i was found totally out and they had to give me oxygen, that stuff will put you to sleep. Any way i battled with the VA and after i Volunteered for the National Study i won my VA case after i filed a Writ of Mandamus in the Court of Vet Appeals, what a heck of a way to go to win your case but i never gave up. For those people battling with the VA, never give up on your case, that is exactly what they want.
