Hi! I'm new to the USMC life, my fiance is in bootcamp. I write him everyday! I'm 24 and he's 26, we have a 2 1/2 year old son that is just amazing! I'm also new to forums, though I'm still trying on a couple other site also. I'm looking for others to connect with to help me along the way. Maybe some that can teach me soethings about the military life. Feel free to message me and ask anything, I am quite open, and very honest.

Thanks! I need all the support I can get! Looks like I'll be more active in this site than any of the others I've signed up for. My fiancee is struggling, as he was definately not prepared for bootcamp. He has 2 brothers that went through bootcamp and one is still a Marine. He thought he knew what to expect, having heard about it from both brothers, but he was wrong! He is having issues with his knees and most of the PT. He says some of the exersizes are getting easier, but I'm still praying for him! He's sounding better in his letters and says everyone is very supportive of him. This is his SDI's last series and it sounds like the man is just amazing! My fiance tells me the man truly cares about his platoon, which is awesome to hear!
Any advice is accepted and I'm open to answering any questions! I'm very open and honest, as I've said before! Thanks so much!!

Hello and welcome aboard the Hangout. It's nice to meet you:) You've found a great site to get answers to questions and lots of support! The members here are quite an amazing bunch and are more then willing to help you out in any way they can. You're Fiance's letters will get better as time goes on, trust me. At first, there is so much they are learning off the get go and the PT is something that none of them are really prepared for. Continue to send him encouraging letters. They enjoy those letters and it keeps them motivated. The DI's can be harsh, but they want those Recruits to succeed. Tell him to focus on the end result....the title of US Marine! Hopefully you are able to attend his graduation. It's a must see!

Well, I got 3 more letters yesterday! :D He sounds so much happier! He is waiting to start swim week (I think it starts this Monday) so that his knees can heal a bit more. He still hasn't told me what is wrong with them, other than they hurt really bad. :( One of the guys he's met there and become really good friends with isn't getting any mail. I'm going to find out what I can about him so I can write him and try to get his address on here so if others would like to write him they can. I do know his first and last name, but I'm not sure of a middle inital. I don't really know how to fill out the form on here so I'll need some help with that wen I find out more.
Thank you all for being so supportive! I work all weekend (12 hours a day), so I probably won't be back on here till Tuesday. See you all after my super long weekend! LOL! I hate 12 hour days! :banghead:

Welcome aboard, Dotgirl... Great to have you join us at the Hangout.
One of the first things that I would say to you is that if your fiancee's two brothers both completed boot camp, then they are still both Marines. ONCE A MARINE, ALWAYS A MARINE.. I FIGURE THAT YOU MEANT THAT ONE WAS STILL ACTIVE DUTY. My two brothers were both Marines when I went in, and my older brother would be the one that you wouldn't know that he was a Marine. He's still a Marine whether he likes it or not ( not that he doesn't - he just doesn't talk about it like me ).
Anyway, ask your questions, because everyone here will help. And we have a varied degree of knowledge in different areas. Thanks for joining us.
