I know we can beat the pro's and con's to death and we are all entitled to OUR OWN opinions. Just like to see a show of hands.

To the best of my knowledge, it is still not permissible to carry a concealed weapon in Wisconsin. So...for me, the answer is not I.

llinois has the greatest restrictions on firearms of any state. There are no provisions for the open or concealed carry of firearms by residents of the state. The following steps will show how you can carry a concealed firearm in Illinois.

Instructions

Step1
Be over 21. You will need to provide your Illinois Identification Card number or Illinois driver's license number on the application.

Step2
Apply for a Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID) which is issued on a "shall issue" basis. See www.isp.state.il.us (http://www.isp.state.il.us) for more information on how to apply. The application form is available at the same website. The FOID card will allow you to possess (not carry) firearms.

Step3
Send the completed FOID application, along with the processing fee Which is $10.00 and your photograph to the Illinois State Police, Firearm Owner's Identification Unit, Post Office Box 19233, Springfield, IL 62794-9233. The fee is non-refundable and your application will be processed within 30 days.

Step4
Sign the FOID card. This card must be renewed every Ten years.

Step5
Become a mayor, alderman, president, trustee, marshal, deputy marshal or policeman. Pass a training course given by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board. This will make you a "conservator of the peace" as defined in the Illinois Municipal Code, Article 3.1, Division 15, Paragraph 25.

Step6
Comply with the following laws regarding firearms: The Firearm Owners Identification Card Act (430 ILCS 65), the Unlawful Use of Weapons Law (720 ILCS 5/24) and the Wildlife Code (520 ILCS 5).

I actually just picked up a couple of pistol permit applications for my son and I. He had wanted to get his permit while he was home here, but the Officer on base that he needed to have fill a form out for him, was off until the Thursday after he left to come home here. Now he'll have to wait till his next trip home. As for mine, I have to wait until I have extra money to apply, which might be awhile! Nick won't have to take the handgun safety course, as the training the Military gives for weapons, far exceeds that needed for a pistol permit, per the Sheriff's Office, here. I, however, will have to take it. There must be a lot of people applying, as the course is filled up 3-4 months in advance around here.

Sounds a lot like Idaho. Mine was a shoe in as the corps taught me well and the wife had to take a 1 day class and shoot 50 rds. I took it with her as they also taught some of the legal responsibilities that go with it. NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN SOMETHING.

Gerald and I are going to take the class as soon as we can find the money to it.

Wife yes, me, well I'm the one you may worry about...no, but I'm safer than your average Minit Mart Ganster and I'm just waiting on that stupid paper work. 29 years later.... Seems I have a TDC number and a small problem that gun play would not be approiate to resolve. If you dont know what a TDC # is, well as Dick Nixon said, "I am not a crook". I had a CCDW in possession Oregon AND Washington, California, and believe it or not, a Marine Corp Green Card-expired-inactive Reserves-OK, pink....) with all the papers correct when I moved to Texas, and I guess I shouldn't of taken it to a titty-bar. For Gods sake, this is Texas!!!! (I need a full pardon.?.!.?.!)And then it domino'd, whole car was arrested........yeah, and life goes on.....Don't ask the wife, she's real quick to show you .
Can all those dead people be wrong ???
