PTSD: The calm AFTER the storm

Rate this Entry
I know the usual saying is "The calm before the storm". However, the calm after the storm has a meaning as well. We have had an amazing past couple of weeks. I am also happy to say that MilitaryOneSource FINALLY came through and sent Jerry his appointment time. So he now has his first appointment set for next week. We are coming up on the three week mark since his last "episode". I am not sure if it's because I have made a point to keep him busy (you should see the honey do list he has!), or if things are really getting better.

We have spent the last 2 weeks painting the inside of the house. Ok so really it was just him painting. I supervised! LOL. He has also spent the majority of his free time welding his roll cage into his Camaro, hoping to get it ready to go back to the track very soon. Opening day was this past weekend. We didn't get to make it . I have noticed though that because he has kept so busy, his mind has less time to "remind" him of where he once was and what he once did and saw.

So just as we always have; we will continue to take it day by day here. I am so happy its the weekend! The weather forecast for this weekend is sun and temperatures in the 50's! First time in months its seems like with all the snow we have had the last couple of months and freezing temperatures.

So just like the weather forecast I believe our life forecast will mimic it for this weekend

a busy mind is a healthy mind I hope all goes well. My husband as well suffers from PTSD.. what most people don't realize is how tough it is for us.. the wives.

For me, being outdoors in nice weather sure helps. Having something constructive to do helps, too. Our 5 months of snow, cold, and yuck here can be very depressing. I don't have PTSD that I am aware of, just know I feel better when I can be outside doing things I enjoy. Best of luck.
