work on your running try and get to 3 miles under 25 min would be decent before boot camp. Do not do any crazy diets. Work on your stomach and upper body muscles. If you can find some one to work out with it helps a lot also.
If you do a stomach exercise then another type of exercise say jumping jacks, push ups, cherry pickers, it is a pretty decent way to get into shape.

Some Stomach exercises you can do
Sit ups, crunchers leg lifts, hello dolly's probably a few others in there but I can't think of any right now.

There are some good work out programs built for Marine DEP's Some one will hit you up with a link I am sure.

something to do that will really work your core is planks. check google or ask someone for a demonstration. also, depending on the amount of pullups you can do, try doing them with your legs out in front of you parallel to the deck, or also do flex arm hang as you do leg lifts. but the one thing that cant be beat is a healty diet and running. try to cut out fatty foods and some simple carbs (sugars)

You can also try taking Xenadrine RFA 1 (make sure you get the RFA 1). A lot of Army doctors have been advising the spouses and soldiers who are looking to loose weight to use it. It is not a rapid weight loss so don't expect to loose 10 pounds in a week or anything. But using it in conjunction with working out and eating right will help you loose those pounds faster and even after you stop taking it, it continues to work.

Ive been taking it for a couple of weeks. I'm trying to loose 25 pounds that seem to have snuck up on me over the summer (first time ever that I have gained weight, Ive never had to watch what I eat). Anyway it takes about 2 weeks for it to completely get in your system, Ive lost 4 pounds so far and thats with out working out (other than house cleaning that I do daily lol) and substituting all my chocolate milk for water lol.

I heard that the 4 lbs may have been because you were not drinking anything...

My recruit PI 12/18 stopped drinking soda, ate lean cuisine, jogged at first then did running exercise.

Find someone to work out with you. Someone who knows something about nutrition. Get your family onboard and be determined.

Realize its a lifestyle, a 24/7 cause, and dont half ass by slipping in certain junk foods and taking days off because you feel tired.

Hey there, I'm a personal trainer, just thought I'd throw my two cents in!
First: if you're doing a lot of cardio to get your weight down, remember that Cardio is supplemental. An hour of intensive cardio burns 500 calories if you have a very high metabolism, which I'm sure you don't. A pound of fat has 3500 calories in it, so it takes SEVEN HOURS of intensive cardio with NO nutritional intake to burn one pound of fat, and your metabolism isn't increased this way. Strength training increases your metabolism by building muscle so you'er burning more calories around the clock. If you perform sets with a four second contraction and six second lengthening of the muscle (choosing a weight you can do 8-12 reps of), with no locking out and no rest, until FAILURE, you'll have recruited your endurance/strength/superstrength (slow twitch oxidative, fast twitch oxidative, and white fast twitch) muscle fibers and exhausted all of them by keeping the muscle under tension for 90-120 seconds, or up to two minutes, instead of being one of those people who performs a set, and while their muscles are resting, walks around shooting ++++ with people isntead of properly exhausting the muscle in one set (also, since you only do 12 maximum slow repetitions, you're getting the same muscle tension time with less movement of the joint - this is optimal!). Do FULL BODY workouts, and do them 3 times a week. SUPPLEMENT with cardio! AND FINALLY - NUTRITION NUTRITION NUTRITION! You can do all the training in the world and ++++ it up with nutrition! Eliminate most fats and leave only a few carbs in your diet! EAT FIVE SMALL MEALS, NOT THREE NORMAL ONES! Three meals a day puts your body in a mode where it stores fat more effectively! A meal only has to be a handful of nuts, a packet of oatmeal, a banana, and some milk! Get your protein but don't get TOO MUCH PROTEIN! That's bad! I hope I was of some help! Good luck buddy!

    good stuff mulls
Do not forget to eat something for breakfast every single day. It kicks your body out of starvation mode and puts that metabolism to work.
It might be a bit more technical than that but still same thing in the end.
