benefits were denied
excuse me if i seem ignorant. i served in the corps, '81-'85. i have tried several times since i was discharged to apply for all types of benefits. medical, home loans, education, etc. every time i apply i am turned down with the same reason. since i am a peacetime vet, i am NOT eligible for benefits. i was told that from the va, and the liason at the courthouse. i have spoke with my uncle, who is a retired colonel from the air force. he said it shouldnt matter, a vet is a vet. thats what i thought. correct me if i am wrong, and why...........any help is apreciated. and i DO have an honorable discharge

Re: benefits were denied
Unfortunately, there is a lot of redtape to go through, once you are out of the Service and trying to get use of the benefits you were told you would have. Hopefully, someone here can point you in the right direction to getting the answers you need. Give them some time to get on here and read your post. Good Luck.

The best advice that I can think of right now is get all of your paper work together , ie/ the names & address ,phone #s of the people you contacted in the past that have turned you down, and then contact your congresonal represenative for your aera and let them help you in the matter, that should wake up a few people that you are serious about your benifits, I have done this in the past and belive me it has helped.
