Overboard sailor beats the odds

The sailor who went overboard Oct. 20 and survived more than five hours in the Atlantic Ocean survived by using his uniform as an ad hoc life preserver and was spotted the old-fashioned way — by lookouts on a cruiser, the commander of the George H.W. Bush Strike Group said Friday.
