Pool Function
Yesterday I was at a Pool function for the DEP program. Now usually im hydrated and everything is good. However, yesterday i was a DA and didnt hydrate or eat anything really. So to sum it up, im almost passed out. Then my SGT. said that water will be very important in bootcamp, because if you go to the DI and try to tell him that you need water, it wont be pretty. I would like to say that ive learned my lesson hahaha. Good times.

A good lesson learned, another lesson to avoid passing out is don't lock your knees while standing at attention

Re: Pool Function
This happened to my son, wizakill, while he was in DEP. He was always getting sick after the runs, etc. He was drinking water, just not enough. Once he got to PI, he found out what the problem was from his DI. Sure enough, as soon as he knew the amounts of water his body needs as compared to how far/how hard they were running - he no longer got sick. While he said the DI's are really tough, that doesn't mean they want you getting sick. Other things to watch out for that my son had problems with are making sure your sneaks (go fasts <or something like that> and boots when you are at boot camp) fit you right. Because you are in them constantly and doing alot of running, bacteria and whatnot sets in. So if they don't fit and you get a blister, this can turn into Cellulitis. If left untreated, it can pose a real threat. Nick ended up not being able to do the motorun on Family Day at PI due to this and was on Antibiotics and light duty for some time after. There is also shin splints. These can turn into stress fractures if you let them go. If you start to get them, don't let them go. Tell your Sgt at DEP or your DI when you are at boot camp. It may leave you on light duty for a few days, but if you let it go - it could cause you to have to be set back for sometime if it turns into stress fractures. This happened to Nick AFTER boot camp and he had to be put on light duty on and off for a while.

Re: Pool Function
Good info, Kmarier. I had that Celulitis crap! It was no fun. I do not remember missing too much, you sort of learn to play through the pain...
