    Marines, give me tips please

To all Marines, active duty or retired,

I am enlisting this March of my Junior Year when I turn 17. I figured out my sophomore year that the Corps is what I wanted. I need some workout advice from people who have gone through boot camp. What to do to get my butt in shape so I don't get totally whooped. I've been running, though I find that since it's summer and I don't have the immediate access to my high school that I usually do, I'm letting myself go. Plus it's difficult because I work at my local BK, but I usually get in the mindset and bust my ass. I plan on going on a full blown routine september 8th, when my school year begins. I'm slightly overweight and plan on working that off before bootcamp in two years. I'm about 6'1", 190. If you guys could give me tips on getting in shape and dieting, i would appreciate it greatly. I've been looking all over for a place to post to help get myself prepared for boot camp. I'm so glad I found this place. Thanks

    Jordan

Start off by eating well rounded meals. Stay away from sodas, fast food, junk foods. Start a work out program that you like to do and can stay with. Start with push ups, set ups, pull ups, and running. You need to get your 3 mile time down in the 20-25 minute range.

If you want a decent routine, try the Semper Fit DVD. It runs you through stretching, a Daily 9, and then a circuit course.

I can go on -eat this -eat that -work out this -work out that-
Bottom Line- is RUN. That's it. Run three times a week at least three miles you'll be ok. You'll be alright- Remember Boot camp isn't just physical- it's mental too-

lol when I saw this post i was like how did I post this?

whats your full name if you dont mind my asking?

run lots and if you are doing delayed entry you should have to workout with your recruiter

I'm not sure but they told me I could go and workout with them even if I hadn't joined yet

haha my full name is jordan evans. I occasionally attend the Pool meetings, as far as working out with my recruiter goes. Until I enlist, I wasnt going to religiously attend them. I know once you enlist, you work out as much as possible with your recruiter. When I spoke to my recruiter a while back, he said he gets up every morning and runs with one of his recruits and his recruit can almost outlast him. He said he does that every day so I'm assuming theyll workout with you.

They will.. You should be flying past your recruiter- Always set your goals higher then the next- You should be running on your own- They won't be going to boot camp with you so you need to find some self motivation- Help is always nice but initiative and self discipline is what's going to matter

Yes, you can work out with them even if you haven't signed on the dotted line - in fact, they would prefer that you do, not only so that you can work out but so that they can keep in better contact with you. They are recruiters, remember?
