Served as a rifleman with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Received the Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and Purple Heart Medal.

In 1997, Bob founded The Go Daddy Group, carving out a unique niche for GoDaddy.com as an alternative to the early monopoly held by much larger companies in the Internet domain registration market.
